The Abundant Life

Christ said that the thief comes but to steal, kill and destroy. This is a Biblical truth that is revealed over and over throughout the life of the believer; however, Christ did not stop there. He went on to say that He came to give life and to give it more abundantly. This has nothing to do with material abundance in the direct sense (although apprehension of the true nature of abundant living can lead to an abundance in every area of life), but has everything to do with the breaking of the yoke of bondage that enslaves the believer and robs them of the potential for greatness in their lives.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with financial gain and material abundance in proper perspective. It is when we tend to place an inappropriate emphasis on it that it become dangerous. The abundance of the Christian way of life does not begin with external manifestations, but an internal realization of spiritual truths. Christ came to reverse the movement of the enemy in the life of all that are willing to accept His gift.

The abundant life is the fullness in purpose that the unshackled believer experiences. The abundant life is the execution of the unstoppable force associated with faith. God sent Christ so that we could be free to carry out, in absolute completion, our earthly mission; to live in complete happiness and peace despite our circumstances; to be freed from fear of condemnation and failure; to be empowered to walk without fainting at the sight of opposition; to have the power to shake free from all that has been binding us; to move in the fullness of our Divine design.

I came to tell you that you have been hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; you have been perplexed, but not in despair; you have be persecuted, but not forsaken; you have been struck down, but not destroyed (2 Cor. 4:8-9). My friend, you have been bruised but not broken. Christ came to give you abundant power, abundant freedom, abundant peace, abundant joy, abundant clarity, abundant courage, and an abundant vision to reveal your abundant purpose. Step out of the darkness and reach for the stars. Step out on faith, far beyond what empirical evidence can reveal. God is waiting with open arms to propel you into the stratosphere of  abundant living. ~ Dr. Rick Wallace
